Digital Performer, MOTU’s flagship software, has some deep roots. Its origins go all the way back to 1985 and has been used by professionals in the music and film industry ever since. This graphic user interface update was years in the making and part of a long effort to modernize the software’s appearance. The update included a meticulous reworking of hundreds of graphics and icons to both modernize the aesthetics as well as to up-size them for Mac OS X’s retina display. Editing XML code was also necessary in order to update colors for the variety of coded elements throughout the app’s graphic user interface. This version 9 release also included the addition of a suite of audio plugins, each of which also needed their own graphical treatment.
Technology used in this project included Photoshop and XML.
