Services

I offer a very wide variety of services that spans the realm of digital media creation including website design and management, graphic and print design, photography, videography, audio production, social media management, brand design and management and user interface and user experience design. It’s a lot of hats to wear, but over the years, I’ve found joy and excitement in learning new disciplines and truly embracing a DIY spirit. I’ll always admit to being a master of none, but having access to a nearly endless supply of creative tools has proven invaluable to help make projects come to life.

Website design and development

I’ve been designing for the web for over two decades. I was formerly trained in graphic and interactive design and received a certificate from the Center of Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. I’ve designed and redesigned websites for a diverse cross-section of clients from veterinarians to a culinary school to a music festival. Working with common web technologies such as HTML, CSS, javascript, and PHP as well as content management platforms like WordPress and Plone, I’ve brought countless web projects to fruition and improvede both companies’ and individuals’ web presences.

Web management and hosting

Designing a website is only part of the overall goal. Just as important is supporting and managing that website. Over the years, I’ve managed, edited, updated and hosted websites for both sites that I designed and launch as well as existing website.

Graphic and print design

Photoshop has been my bread and butter for years. I fell in love with it as soon as I first installed it while in design school. Alongside other Adobe and graphics tools like Illustrator and InDesign, Photoshop has been indispensable in designing and creating an endless array of digital and print projects. From album covers, to book layout, brochures, product packaging, business cards, posters, and all sorts of graphical odds-and-ends, it feels like I’ve done a little bit of everything.

Videography

While my brother is an excellent wedding videographer (over at Oxford Media Films) I’ve found myself dabbling in video production from time to time. The skill has come in handy on the many occasions when I or any of my musician friends need a little video session captured. My single Canon 6D DSLR camera comes in handy to help produce economical, yet HD film-quality content.

Photography

I can remember snapping the shutter ever since disposable cameras were a thing. At some point along the way, I picked up a telephoto lens and turned my attention to wildlife, namely birds. Despite my focus feathered subjects, I’ve occasionally dabbled in landscape and architectural photography and to some degree portraiture.

Audio production

I got a little 4-track Tascam tape recorder mixing board for Christmas one year and I vividly remember the revelation I had when I found out what happens when you hard-pan two guitar tracks. Magic! Since then, the digital world has massively changed the industry and now audio production has never been more accessible. For a stretch, I worked as the graphic and web guy for the audio hardware and software company, MOTU which gave me an up-close glimpse into the forefront of audio technology. It allowed me to become at home on their flagship software, Digital Performer and with I can produce quality recordings and sessions with a very minimal setup.

User interface design

While working for MOTU, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work on the company’s software, Digital Performer. Alongside the software engineers and using Photoshop and Illustrator, I designed the graphical look of numerous audio plugins and updated the aesthetics the software’s user interface. I’ve also worked on several mobile app projects that ensured ease of use for the customer base.

Logo and brand design

Logos and branding are basically the face of any company or entity. They should be consistent across the spectrum of media and help to immediately identify an entity and link the customer to it. I’ve designed logos for a variety of clients whose goals ranged from being welcoming and engendering trust to appearing edgy or even a bit aggressive (read: logo for metal bands!). Brand design and management for sure goes hand-in-hand with designs for web and print materials.
